I need some clarification?
The GOG version of spellforce 2 shows "anniversary edition", but the version displayed once installed indicates version: 2.01 build #85906. Is this correct to get the patch?

GoG sadly only has the Bad Anniversary Edition. That one is only compatible to some of mods. I hihgly recommend you to get access to the Gold Edition.

Is there some way to remove the automatic buffs to the hero? Every attacker gets holy wratch and you do triple damage.

This makes the game trivially easy, even on very hard. Like my hero solos a whole map. I noticed it to late in my campaign that it's permanent and for the whole game, and now I'm too far into it to restart.

Generally this mod makes the game extremely easy. Originally I just thought you get the 3 titans and a level headstart for the first few maps, but not the whole campaign.
The titans you can just keep at the start or kill, but the rest is unavoidable and takes away most of the challenge.

And not on every map. I haven't yet got the logic on when the buffs are active and when not. It was active on Dragh'Lur for example. I could solo the whole map with my hero. It's active again in Shal. But wasn't active in Uram Gor for example (just checked a random save).

Also no description anywhere mentions this. Should be in the descirption as a disclaimer.

Can I deinstall the campaign mod and keep my savegame, or is it corrupted then?

this was sadly a design decition from the original author and "default of the Hero-Edition". You can uninstall the mod at any time, but the scripts are cache-saved in your savegame, there is sadly only the option of a new playtrough without the mod active.

Was this "patch" ever playtested? Or am I playing it wrong? Started Dragon Storm FG, immediately got boosted to lvl15 and got to pick two sidekicks. Above mentioned overpowered buffs and NPCs are balanced by randomly strewn around lvl30 superbosses on various maps for no reason whatsoever. Some side quests don't work at all (dragon shrines don't trigger when approached, making said quest impossible to progress; 1st full set of dragon language runes cannot be handed in), or have uncertain trigger conditions (priests of Niethalf don't give any items after being summoned, you just get the quest completion at one point randomly). Worst of all, I couldn't unlock any more companion NPCs past the initial two, I just stopped playing at lvl25 when it became a chore, and the main quest in Sevenkeeps bugged.

I remember a similar general overhaul of Free Game mode on old jowood Spellforce forums, one that actually fixed bugs and added features, not this... coding fanfiction equivalent of a "content mod".

well this is the "Hero Edition" that was sold that way back in 2008. It was a collection of the most popular mods on the forum and website back then that JoWood used to create a "new version". Not all changes are for everyone and fit their tastes, thats why i added the option to modular install and deinstall mods, without having to remove or apply the whole package. That something is bugged or deadlocked is new to me.

Would you be so kind and offer your savegame, next to the info of what version of SpellForce 2 you installed it on where you own it (Retail. Steam, GoG, ect...).
